Communication Minor

Students choosing to acquire a minor in Communication complete the foundational courses in the curriculum that focus on the development of oral, written, and critical thinking skills important to communication competence. In addition, these courses require the student to gain familiarity with major theoretical issues and methods of the Communication discipline. Students may also choose among higher-level courses where they engage the Communication principles from the foundational courses in problem-solving approaches to learning.
For entry into the Communication Minor, the student must have completed the Essential Skills Requirement and must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.50. All Communication coursework counted toward the minor must be completed with a grade point average of at least 2.50 and a minimum of 9 credits at the 300-level or higher. No grade lower than a “C” is accepted toward the completion of the Communication Minor.

Program Requirements:
The Communication Minor requires the successful completion of at least 15 credits of the following courses: Theory and Methods of Inquiry (6 credits)
Students must complete Communication Theory and 3 credits in the Methods course the student selects. Electives: 3 or more Credits
Select electives from the Communication curriculum to total at least 15 credits in the minor, with at least 9 credits at the 300-level or above. |
