Linguistics courses that are language-specific (e.g. FREN 425 - Phonology and Advanced Grammar, GERM 432 - Grimms’ Maerchen and German Dialectology, SPAN 364 - Spanish Phonetics and Phonology, SPAN 380 - Spanish Applied Linguistics, SPAN 456 - History of the Spanish Language) may count toward the 15-16 credits required for the Linguistics Minor, but only ONE such course may be used toward satisfying foreign language major or minor and linguistics minor requirements. (Similarly, for English majors, only one course taken for English major credit may be used toward satisfying the 15-16 credits required for the Linguistics Minor.) In addition to the language-specific linguistics courses above, with committee approval, up to 2 semesters of foreign language courses may be used toward satisfying the 15-16 credits if not taken to fulfill any other requirement.
No grade of “D” is accepted toward the Linguistics Minor.
