ACCREDITATION
Truman State University’s business and accounting programs are accredited by AACSB-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Programs included in the scope of accreditation include the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and Master of Accountancy. The accounting programs hold specialized accounting accreditation from AACSB International. Truman is among fewer than 200 institutions worldwide holding both business and accounting accreditation from AACSB.
PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT
The business program graduates ethically-aware prospective business and civic leaders who are effective communicators, team leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.
We fulfill the mission by:
- Admitting high-potential students from the Midwest and beyond;
- Offering programs that embrace the knowledge, skills, and perspectives of the liberal arts;
- Using effective teaching and learning strategies with appropriate technologies to prepare students for rapidly evolving business careers;
- Engaging with business professionals, civic leaders, and community members to enhance student learning and readiness for the workforce, and;
- Emphasizing faculty scholarly activity related to contributions to practice and teaching/learning with a secondary emphasis on discipline-based scholarship.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Students wishing to major in business administration must meet the following requirements before enrolling in upper division business courses:
1. Completion of 40 credits including the following courses with a grade of C or better:
2. An overall cumulative GPA of 2.50.
3. Submit a semester-by-semester planned class schedule that would fulfill graduation requirements.
4. Students should currently be enrolled in or have completed the following courses with a grade of C or better:
5. Pass Excel Competency Test.
6. Submit current resume.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
- A 2.25 GPA in major and concentration requirements
- An overall cumulative 2.25 GPA
- 40 credits of 300-400 level courses
- Students must complete 24 semester credits of the required business courses at Truman, have a 2.25 GPA in major requirements taken at Truman, and have a 2.0 GPA in all courses taken at Truman.

Please note that courses are not allowed to double count within any of the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Required Support, Major Requirements, or Areas of Concentration. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS: 43 Credits
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Students completing requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration must select and complete one concentration as follows: Concentration: Finance

Concentration: International Business
Six credits must be completed at the Truman State University campus. This concentration is offered only within the Business Administration (BA) degree, and it requires intermediate proficiency in a foreign language. Required:
- An international (outside of home country) internship or study abroad (for credit). For international internships, at least 1 credit must be earned by the completion of Department of Business and Economics internship credit. (International students typically fulfill the study abroad requirement through their enrollment at Truman State University.)
- A minimum of twelve credits of coursework must be completed for the concentration as detailed below:
